The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has made it a compulsion to obtain the authority's No-Objection Certificate (NOC) prior to any private housing scheme being advertised.
RDA's Director General Saif Anwar Jappa revealed in a letter Horticulture Authority (PHA) Rawalpindi, cantonment boards, Rawalpindi District Council and Rawalpindi tehsil councils that only societies that produce NOCs will be allowed to advertise.
He further claimed that there has been a significant rise in the housing societies that are being created across Rawalpindi and certain policies need to be adopted to maintain the integrity of the process.
It was also discussed that since no authority is currently responsible for maintaining the integrity of the process as some housing societies are promoting their projects using misguided and unapproved banners to attract customers and overseas Pakistanis.
Action has already been launched against the individuals and firms with Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) who are posting television commercials on social media to sell various plots of unapproved and illegal housing societies.
Saif Anwar further revealed that the decision was also taken following the massive influx in the complaints against owners of illegal private housing societies and concrete steps were required to save "innocent people from fraudsters."
